The second inhabited lunar landing mission, Apollo 12, was launched at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on November 14, 1969 aboard a Saturn V launcher. The Saturn V vehicle was developed by the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) under the direction of Dr. Wernher von Braun. The crew of Apollo 12 was composed of three astronauts: Alan L. Bean, pilot of the lunar module, Richard Gordon, pilot of the command module and Charles Conrad, commander of the spacecraft. LM, Conrad and Bean astronauts are on the moon's surface in what is known as the Ocean of Storms, while astronaut Richard Gordon remains in orbit around the moon. Their activities on the lunar floor included the deployment of the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package. In this photo, one of the astronauts on the surface of the Moon is holding a lunar earthenware container. The other astronaut is seen reflected in his helmet.
