This is a photo of a stunning abandoned town called Craco, in Italy. Craco looks like a sculpture of medieval origins, and is in heavy decay. Throughout the years it has been the setting of many series and movies, including Quantum of Solace (James Bond) and The Passion of the Christ.
In the 1960s, the town was hit by a landslide that forced the people living in the town to leave their homes and seek refuge in a nearby municipality. The landslide was caused because the sanitation needed an upgrade, and upgrading this caused the ground on which the town was built to become heavily disturbed. Since then, landslides have regularly occurred. About 20 years after the first landslide, an earthquake caused the town, which was also known as 'the golden mountain', to become permanently uninhabitable.
