A photographer since leaving school, I initially learnt my craft at Fox Photos, a Fleet Street press agency. Later at Keystone Press Agency, I covered news stories around London, including the Iranian Embassy siege, the Brixton riots, Mrs Thatcher and the early days of Lady Diana. Throughout the 1980's I specialised in photographing Princess Diana and the Royal Family. As a Buckingham Palace accredited photographer, I covered Charles and Diana on Royal Tours around the world, visiting over fifty countries and producing sixteen illustrated books on their travels. Two of these, Charles and Diana's First Royal Tour and Charles and Diana in Canada - made the Sunday Times Best Seller list.
My work is published every week by leading magazines, newspapers and websites around the world including Time, Newsweek, Vanity Fair, Paris Match, The Guardian, The Times, Daily Telegraph, BBC, ITV, CNN, Daily Mail, Daily Express, The i paper, LA Times, New York Times, New Yorker, Washington Post, Tatler, Vogue, Madame Figaro, Evening Standard, Liberation, Neue Zurcher Zeitung , The Spectator, New Statesman, La Vanguardia, Irish Times, the Sunday Times, the Observer and many, many other news media outlets.
I am the only photographer ever granted, behind the scenes access, into the Bank of England, for a story that ran in the Daily Telegraph magazine. A project on quirky, annual British Rituals, shot over two years, ran as a ten page feature in the Sunday Times Magazine. My photo essay on the English Social Season was commissioned by, and published, as a special supplement by Tatler.
Recently I have been working with Cafe Royal Books on a set of small run 'zines of my personal black and white work.
